coaching overview

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”                                                        Carl Rogers

At a time in my life when I felt personally and professionally stuck, a conversation with a life coach helped me radically to rethink my approach and set me on the liberating journey described in my book Urban Worrier: Adventures in the Lost Art of Letting Go.

Nearly a decade later, I am delighted to offer coaching myself, with a particular passion for the areas in which I am most experienced:

  • mid-life transition
  • spiritual searching
  • men’s issues & fatherhood
  • parenting & adoption
  • career transition
  • writing and the creative process

WHAT TO EXPECT

My coaching style is supportive rather than directive. I have discovered that approaching even the most troublesome situations with curiosity and understanding can free us up to move forward in unexpected ways.

“A powerful experience” / “I hadn’t expected to laugh so much, alongside the tears” / “Really liberating insights” / “A deeply affirming experience” / “Positive steps in changing my working world” more testimonials

Whatever your situation, we will work together to explore your particular needs and goals in a time-frame that works for you, and regularly review our progress.

Sessions are either in Edinburgh in person (indoors or outdoors as you prefer), or online using Skype or similar technology from anywhere in the world. Anything we share is confidential.

QUALIFICATIONS

I have a Diploma in Transformational Coaching, accredited by the Association for Coaching and the International Coach Federation, of which I am a member. I have also completed a foundation course in process-oriented psychology, and various leadership development training modules with the Mankind Project.

COST

A first exploratory consultation call is free, with subsequent hour-long sessions available for £60 each, or £300 for a block of six when paid in advance.

If you are interested in booking coaching with me, or simply want more information, please drop me an email and we’ll see what’s possible.
